· Belgium has three distinct regions and languages. Flanders (North) where they speak Flemish, Wallonia (South) where they Speak French, and a small district (East) where they speak German.

· Belgium produces 220,000 tons of chocolate every year. Per person consumption comes to 22 kg of chocolate annually, or 61 grams per day on an average.

· There are over 800 kinds of beer made in Belgium.

· Almost half of Belgian households have at least a single pet. For 10 million people, domestic dogs and cats mount to 2 million and above.

· The world’s main diamond centre and second largest petrochemical center is Belgium. Almost 90% of raw diamonds in the world are negotiated and distributed in Antwerp. All agreements are done on a handshake and their word.

· Belgium has one of the lowest proportion of McDonald's restaurants per inhabitant in the developed world

· The Belgian motorway system is the only man-made structure visible from the moon (at night with the lights on)

· Battle of the Bulge, Napoleon and Waterloo – yeah, that’s Belgium too!
